Snurr
Film AS
The company was founded in 1994, and even though fiction
production was always the goal, we started out doing corporate
and educational films. In 1998 Geir Greni got sole ownership,
and at the same time changed the name of the company to Snurr
Film AS. Another important change for the company was the
decision to focus on the fiction market. We came up with the
strategy of producing low-budget films, and in this way establishing
our name within a new market. Within a few years we had achieved
what we set out to do, and because our films managed to reach
an audience, we were soon allowed larger budgets.
Although
Snurr Film AS is mainly a vehicle for Geir Greni, we have
also accommodated other filmmakers, and will hopefully continue
to do so in the future. It will always be in the spirit of
the company that we from time to time make energy driven low-budget
films.

Production
One of our main focuses in Snurr Film AS, is for our films
to reach an audience. So even from the start it has been crucial
to secure a good distribution deal, national as well as international.
All our films have been screened in movie theatres in Norway,
and all of them has gotten distribution deals on video. They
have been sold to TV-channels, among them Canal+ and PBS,
and travelled to film-festivals around the world, like Cannes
and Toronto.
We
have won, and been nominated for numerous awards, and several
of our films are released on
the compilation tapes: The best of Norwegian short films.
